You won't hear me cry, this I testify
Please believe me, boy, you know I won't lie

NICKNAME(S): Minny
AGE: 16
BIRTHDATE: July 12th 2006 (Note to Mods: PLEASE CHECK MY MATH ON THIS. I am notoriously awful at figuring out ages!!)
BLOODLINE: Halfblood [Pureblood father + Halfblood Mother]
HERITAGE: English.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.
PETS: A large fluffy gray and white cat named Beatrice.
SOCIAL STEREOTYPE: The Love Obsessed Mother Hen.

academics
HOUSE: Hufflepuff.
YEAR: 6th.
LEADERSHIP: Student Leader of Astronomy Club.
CLUBS: Choir, Astronomy Club, Events Planning.
SPORTS: None.
BEST SUBJECTS: Herbology and Charms.
WORST SUBJECTS: Potions.
CLASS LIST: Astronomy, Herbology, Potions, Charms, DADA, and Transfiguration.
CAREER PATH: Healer. It was only her Third Year that Minny had any inkling of what she wanted to do when she graduated. The only idea she held previously was perhaps being a tutor for pre-Hogwarts magical children or even a Professor like her father. But when one of her friends fell moderately ill, Minny was the one who insisted she go to the Infirmary to get checked out. Since the other student was terrified of any kind of hospital setting, Minny went with her. For the next few weeks, it was Minny who was by her friend's bedside the most, making sure they were taking their medication properly even when they were being stubborn. She was so passionate about seeing her friend better that people began remarking jokingly that she might as well be a Healer. The more Minny thought about it, even long after the other student got better, the more she really liked the idea. To be someone who aids people when they're at their most vulnerable was role that seemed to suit her and eventually she was completely enamoured with the thought of being a Healer. The revelation required that Minny take a whole new approach to her school work. She had always taken it seriously before but now that she was aware of just how difficult her goal was going to be she knew she was really going to have to buckle down on her studies. While a bright girl, Minny has always been an average student. She's just as prone to getting answers wrong when called upon in class as anyone else. A particularly hard test can put an unfortunate dent in her average. Unless she puts the extra hours in. While not at the top of the class, Minny's work ethic has allowed her do exceptional enough to be Healer worthy. Over the summers, she's volunteered at St. Mungo's to help get some level of experience in the field.

appearance
HEIGHT: 5 feet, 7 inches.
WEIGHT: 137 lbs.
HAIR COLOR: Blonde.
EYE COLOR: Blue.
COMPLEXION: Minny has the typical light skinned complexion of a Brit. She doesn't go out of her way to tan and so is rather fair year round.
POSTURE: Minny has good posture and usually sits up straight and attentively unless otherwise pouring over notes and studyi.
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: Her bright blonde hair is probably her most easily identifiable physical trait. She's fortunately enough not to have obtained any permanent damage from any stray spellwork or scrapes.
PB: Monica Keena

personality
LIKES: Elladora, crafts, knitting, sewing, vintage clothing style, vintage decor and anything really, baking, decorating, adding feminine touches, romance and period novels, girls nights!, teen witch magazines.
DISLIKES: Dragonhide, bullies, narcissists, people who refuse to take other peoples' feelings into consideration, when people completely disregard their health or refuse to be seen by the nurse when they're clearly ill or injured (she's already such a Healer at heart).
PERSONALITY: One thing people learn quickly about Minny is that she has a lot of gall. She certainly isn't a far cry from her father or even Augusta for that matter when it comes to courage or assertiveness. Of course, in her life time she hasn't used it for much more than chastising patrons of The Leaky when needed or chewing out younger students who are behaving like neanderthals. Some undoubtedly consider her a bit bossy since she has no problem sternly telling students that they should't something because it's simply a daft idea. Even the most bratty back-talking rule breaker would have to do quite a lot to rattle her. In fact, she was bossing around other students subconsciously long before she was even made Prefect. She isn't bossy on purpose, really. She actually regrets the times she's done it to her friends and accidentally hurt their feelings or rattled their cage. Minny is just very strong willed about most things and finds the urge to intervene or give her opinion hard to suppress most times. And really it's usually the people she truly cares about that she tends to be more bossy towards because she desperately wants the best for them and can't stand the thought of seeing them do something they may regret.

But don't mistake Minny for mean. Her actions are rarely ever without good intentions. Actually, many would say she has a warm, motherly demeanor most of the time. A frequently nosy and overprotective mother, but a mother nonetheless. It isn't that Minny is tactless with other people. Students that get dealt with bluntly are usually the ruder and more defiant ones. She's very approachable to those who need help or advice and has a talent for assuring and guiding terrified first years in their initial months of schooling. If you're in need of a favour or shoulder to cry on, Minny is an excellent person to call. And if it has anything at all to do with being bullied, expect the fierce side of Minny to come out. It may be partially due to her parents strongly instilling in her the idea that those who struggle are to be soothed and helped, since they know all too well what it's like to be vulnerable and insecure. But Minny's intolerance of those that prey on the weak seems pretty innate in nature as well. Though, you may have to prepare yourself for unasked for advice along with the consoling, Minny is very selfless when it comes to other people and will frequently go far out of her way to help them. She's the kind of friend that will spontaneously owl you a plate of cookies if you mentioned to her you had a bad day. Taking care of other people is almost like an instinct for her.

Though she has her tough side, Minny is undeniably feminine. She likes craftsy things like knitting, sewing, and baking. Her side of the dorm is thoroughly decorated and cutesy looking. She's generally interested in and good at most things that can be considered "domestic". She has a sort of vintage aspect to her personality as well. She likes old fashioned styles of clothes and just about everything. She even speaks in a way that sounds a tad old for her age. She enjoys reading period books and shopping in vintage clothing store. She was a big lover of slumber party activities when she was at that age and to be perfectly honest even at this age. Girl talks are pretty much a necessity in her life because she treasures having emotional heart-to-hearts that many times boys just don't have the desire to do or have patience for. Minny is very much an emotional creature. She's the type who thinks that when something important happens, it should be talked about afterwards to process how it made everyone feel.

Minny is definitely a romantic. In both a general and literal sense. She likes stories that are heavy in soulful ideals and fantastic adventures. The reason she still takes Astronomy is she finds stargazing and thinking of distant planets sort of wonderous. But in a literal sense, Minny is also in love with the idea of love. The kind of love between two soulmates love. She reads romance novels constantly and often day dreams of being swept off her feet. She's the type who has a binder full of cut-outs and pictures of what her dream wedding will be like and already has a list of children's names picked out for her future ones. In real life, Minny has been on a few casual dates with schoolmates who were friends but has had no real passionate romance like the ones she always reads about. Part of the reason for this could be that most boys see her as a naggy mother more than someone they'd actually like to take out on a date. But Minny also has a bad tendency of falling for boys who have all the looks and charm but none of the integrity. In the past, she's been strung along by older boys who were all too aware of the affect they had on girls only to be disappointed in the end. But so far it hasn't stopped her from longing for That Special Someone.

background
PARENTS: Neville Longbottom [Professor of Herbology at Hogwarts] + Hannah Longbottom nee Abbott [Owner of the Leaky Cauldron]
SIBLINGS: Frank Longbottom, 4th Year Gryffindor; Pomona Longbottom, 8 years old.
OTHER RELATIVES: None in game, though coming from a Pureblood background Minny does have quite a few extended relatives.
RESIDENCE: London, England. Over the Leaky!
HISTORY: Though Harry was oblivious to it at the time, Neville and Hannah grew to be close friends while in school. It pretty much started in their 5th Year when the DA kicked up. Neville and Hannah had a natural chemistry that blossomed into friendship easily, which shouldn't be too surprising considering they were of similar dispositions. They both shared feelings on joining the DA. They were certain it was the right thing to do and yet still terribly frightened of what the consequences might be. But what really forged their bond was when Hannah's mother was killed by Death Eaters their Sixth Year. The incident was meant to be a message about purity since her father, a man with a very old and respected pureblood background, had chosen to marry a muggleborn. Though she left for rest of the year, Neville reached out to her through an owl and they ended up corresponding frequently throughout the year and visiting over breaks. Hannah found his support especially comforting since she was able to talk to him about what it was like to be without a parent, something most of her other close friends had no experience with. Neville was also good at cheering her up since he took to sending her gifts, mostly consisting of special plants he grew to sparkle or sing her favourite songs. Their relationship might have turned formally romantic sooner if it wasn't for much bigger things going on during their Seventh Year. The rest of their involvement in the Second War, Neville's in particular, is widely known and likely well documented by this point. Needless to say, Neville and Hannah began dating soon after the war had ended which surprised no one.

Growing up above a pub might not appeal to all girls, but surprisingly the living situation has always seemed to suit Minny. Hannah always insisted that none of her children be made to help out until they were of proper working age since the idea of exploiting her children for free labour just didn't sit right with her. But Minny got her to cave on that rule even before she was of school age because to her mother's surprise, she was practically begging to help. And she appeared to actually enjoy tasks like tidying up rooms for new guests and taking/serving lunch orders. Minny also showed early signs of assertiveness when dealing with difficult customers. Even the ones that made Hannah a bit nervous didn't seem to phase her. Minny has up until this point helped out every summer for spending money from her parents.

There isn't much to say that's unexpected about how Minny gets on with her family. Her parents are both amicable people and have always provide a stable, supportive parent relationship with their children. With Hannah, Miny shares her more girly side. They frequently do typical mother/daughter projects together like sewing quilts or baking for charity. They often listen to soap operas on the wireless together, or when they get a chance watch a romantic muggle movie. Hannah is usually the one who tries to calm Minny when she gets overly protective or worrisome. Though it tends to be a little hypocritical since Hannah is the type who frets a little much about little things when it comes to her children. When Minny first scraped her knee or took a bad tumble, Hannah was the mother who was almost more shaken up about it than her child. She's become less sensitive since then but still is quick to play the role of a reassuring mother at a moment's notice. Neville is somewhat less concerned when his oldest daughter is a bit too overbearing. He has always made it a priority to make sure his children are able to test their boundaries and believes they should be able to make their own mistakes. Minny has heard him on occasion say that he feels if his own upbringing hadn't been so strict, he might have been more confident when he was younger. But this philosophy doesn't stop him from intervening completely when it's appropriate. He's just more of the kind of parent who lets his children come to him when they need something.

Transitioning to Hogwarts was a smoother process for Miny than it likely was for some other students. Like most children of Hogwarts Alumni, Minny was taught to think of the school as a second home from a young age and heard tales of it in a very flattering nostalgic light. She had even visited a few times for Quidditch Matches that her father took her to when she was little. And it was hard to feel nervous about going away to school when she knew she was going to be seeing her father at least a few times a week and even if she did get homesick he was always available for visiting during his office hours. So Minny really was much more excited and full of anticipation on her first train ride than nervous. When she was Sorted, Hufflepuff wasn't an unthinkable option though she had been expecting to be put in Gryffindor since everyone went on about how headstrong she was. She suspected her father thought this too (or even hoped perhaps) but he did a good job not showing it and made sure she knew he was just as proud of her regaurdless. Minny wasn't sure how living underground was going to play out. It took getting used to but with some homey touches, Minny grew to really like her new House. She was sociable with her housemates from the start, particularly the girls in her dorm. There were the usual bumps that came with a whole new lifestyle but for the most part Minny grew to love Hogwarts easily and early on.

Fourth Year was one of note because it was the first time Minny ever truly had her heart broken. She had developed a friendship with a popular, older and (most notably) handsome boy in another House. From the first moment he began giving her attention, Alice was completely smitten. She was giggly and giddy every time they spoke. The other boy was quite aware of his effect on her and began flirting with her shamelessly. Alice was so sure they had something special. Sure, she saw him talk to other girls with a cheeky grin sometimes but he would always see her looking and give her a wink. He always said all the right things and knew exactly how to make her feel all tingly. Eventually the encounters lead to Minny's first real, passionate kiss. The girl was practically floating on air until her bubble burst in the worst possible way. She caught him with her own eyes kissing another in the hallway a few days later. She was so upset she didn't even approach either of them, just ran away with tears in her eyes.

Minny tried to hide how devestated she truly was. Mostly because she felt so stupid about the whole thing. So dupped. Here she had been doodling the bloke's name in the margins of her notes, naming their children, and planning their future when he clearly didn't think very much of her at all. She was shattered. It was one of those times she was truly grateful her father within proximity for a hug and pep talk. Through the support of close friends and several different versions of the "There Are Plenty of Other Fish in the Sea and That Fish is so Not Worth Your Tears" speech, Minny was able to move on. But what she's never told anyone since is that to this day she sometimes secretly wishes things had worked out. Not that she would ever be interested in that boy again, of course. But she misses what she thought she'd had and still wants it badly.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE: 1. It's no secret that Minny plays the part of a mum to pretty much everybody. She's likely to give you advice (or nag you depending on how you perceive it) whether you ask for it or not.
2. Minny's very passionate about her desired career track and will likely be the first one to notice you may be coming down with something before you even notice it yourself! She will also get on your case if you ARE getting sick and refuse for whatever reason to see the nurse about it.
3. Minny's not only girly but old fashioned. Even the way she speaks sounds a bit like she's from an older generation. This isn't to say she's naive or not up to date with modern culture but she has a noticeably old world demeanor which is perhaps highlighted by the fact that she tends to act like a mum.

FIRST PERSON: Do the girls of the Hufflepuff dorm have any preferances for what flowers we should put up in the room for the semester? I was thinking Dahlias or Geraniums for Spring, of course, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm not the only one who will have to look at them until summer, after all! It's been so hard to find time to redecorate since we've arrive back. I've been scheduling more Potions study sessions for myself since I really didn't do as well as I expected on the mid-term. But like dad always says, growing things is good for the soul and so if anyone wants to join me in the Green Houses the company would be appreciated!

Privated to Samara

Are you alright? You looked a bit pale after Charms and I've noticed you haven't been eating much at meals. I know you know this, but I want to make sure you're pushing fluids if you're coming down with something.

Privated to all who are not named Frank Longbottom

If that boy has transfigured someone's chocolates into cockroach clusters again, I not only give you permission but implore you to drag him my way by the ear.
